Doorstep Fete(1)

As a parent or guardian of a pupil at Rayne School, you automatically become a member of the Parent Staff Association.  An AGM is held each September to elect a committee and make plans for the coming year’s events – usually a wide variety of functions which seek to bring families and school together as well as to raise funds.  The P.S.A. aims to do all it can to further the education of our children and they deserve all our support.

Money raised by the P.S.A. pays for many extra things we would otherwise be unable to afford, as well as giving support to outings and entertainment.

In its time the PSA has raised thousands of pounds. This money has been spent on equipment and resources to enhance our childrens educational experiences and the school facilities.

All parents and members of the school community are encouraged to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time available. Donations from Parents and Friends are extremely important to us; you can donate time, money, items for sale, raffle prizes or by offering up your services and skills.

We are a small and friendly team and we try to meet on a regular basis, usually one a month.

We hold several events throughout the year ranging from Cake Sales, Christmas Events, School Discos and the annual Summer and Christmas Fetes. We are always open to new ideas and would love to hear from you if you have any suggestions.

In the last few years we have donated an outdoor classroom, a new projector and hall equipment, a classroom whiteboard,  a mud kitchen for EYFS, a jungle gym, a sand pit, bean bags, KS1 and KS2 dictionaries, activity tables and benches.  We always endeavour to spend the funds in ways that will benefit children across all areas of the school and curriculum.

Many thanks for all your support, we really do appreciate it.

PSA Mother's Day Tea

This year, in conjunction with Steady Pace Cafe, the PSA Mother's Day Tea was run as a pre-order and takeaway service. Delicious scones with jam and cream and yummy vanilla and chocolate cupcakes were provided by Anja at Steady Pace and a percentage was given to the PSA, raising approximately £115!

Rayne Easter Treasure Hunt

This year the PSA decided to run an Easter Treasure Hunt throughout the Easter holidays, to create a fun activity for local families. Clue sheets were purchased for £1.50 and children were asked to find coloured stones, placed in various location across the pretty village of Rayne, to seek out a chocolate reward. It proved extremely popular and raised a brilliant £709.86!

Happy Bag Clothing Collection

Another fantastic £416.40 was added to the pond upgrade fundraising pot recently as parents, staff and people from the local community kindly donated their unwanted clothes, shoes and soft toys, for the Rayne PSA Happy Bag collection! We thank you all greatly for your support.

PSA - Autumn Term

Despite the difficult year, our fantastic PSA team have still managed to raise a significant amount of money during the Autumn term!

In October, we held a Spooky Dress Up Day raising £188.70. The Spooky Spoon creative competition was still able to go ahead, adding another £51.28 to the bank. This also gave our children and some of their parents, the opportunity to have fun and express themselves using art materials!

In December, the Christmas Market tradition continued, in a covid safe environment and our pupils enjoyed choosing a special gift for their families and friends. This raised £708.81 for the PSA fund!

The PSA raised a further £122.97 by selling Christmas crafts such as paint your own bauble, make your own snowman & Christmas cross stitch. Real Christmas trees were sold and our percentage was £95.00.  Our students also created their own Christmas pictures which were printed onto cards, mugs and tea towels raising a further £308.61!

Within the Rayne community the PSA also ran a virtual Christmas market throughout November and December raising £367.50 whilst also supporting many small businesses in the local area as well as joining in with the big PTA Raffle, adding another £229.50 to the pot.

They didn't stop there though, the PSA team also organised their own Christmas online raffle raising a brilliant £949!

Finally, the Rayne PSA Snowman trail ran between 21st-31st December and over 60 local households, as well as every class at school, created their very own snowman which was numbered and formed part of a trail whereby local families could purchase a map contactless and spot as many of the snow people as possible and vote for their favourite, for a chance to win £100.  The winning entry was a minion snowman and they won £50 for their efforts. The trail proved extremely popular, was a real village highlight and raised the spirits of so many during the festive period. Our thanks go out to Emma Curran Design for designing the map, our sponsors Michael's of Braintree and Hare & Tortoise Running and to everyone who took the time to create a snowman. It was so much fun and raised another £780.04!

In total, last term our wonderful PSA raised a massive £3,811.41 which I'm sure you will agree is an amazing amount considering the unprecedented times.

The PSA are currently raising funds for new school playground markings as well as a pond renovation project in the Autumn.

A special mention goes out to Karen Maka and her team including Emma Wood and Lisa Glancey.  We cannot thank the PSA volunteers enough for their hours of planning, marketing, selling, organising and so much more! Rayne Primary and Nursery School are very lucky indeed to have such a supportive PSA.

Spooky Day

Thank you to everybody who made the effort to dress up and donate to Spooky Dress Up day. There were some fantastic costumes and the children had lots of fun! £188.70 was raised which will go into the PSA fund to help purchase new equipment for our school.

Spooky Spoons

Thank you to everyone who entered the Spooky Spoons 2020 competition.  We had some brilliant entries as always and it was so difficult for the judges to choose just one winner in each category.  Well done to the winners who received a Halloween themed prize and for the adult winner, a voucher for The Booking Hall Cafe:

Nursery/EYSF - Kourtney M

KS1 - Jack L

Lower KS2  - Annie-Mae D

Upper KS2 - Ava C

How We Help?

APRIL 2019

We were delighted that the brand new outdoor classroom was unveiled recently. A fantastic added resource which will be used by the whole school for lessons outside and will also provide shade during play and lunchtimes. Well done to everyone who worked hard to fundraise for this beautiful structure.

FEBRUARY 2019

Thanks to a wonderful donation from local restaurant 47 The Street, Rayne we were able to purchase a new portable cooking trolley which can be used by the whole school. This will make cooking and baking much easier and aid the children in learning new life skills.

JANUARY 2019

KS2 Books

Due to the fantastic support we have received at recent events the PSA have been able to donate some brand new books to the KS2 library.

MAY 2018

Development of Outside Space

The PSA have recently donated and volunteered their time to develop the outside space in both KS1 & KS2 for the children to use at break times and lunch times.  Bean bags, a lego table, books, wooden play & learning benches and a sandpit have been provided and built by the PSA to provide a relaxing area with activities for the children to enjoy.

PSA volunteers also donated their time to paint the pergola and provide beautiful planters which are being looked after by some of the children.
